Amani National Congress (ANC) has dismissed reports indicating that the National Super Alliance (Nasa) has picked ODM’s Raila Oding to be the presidential flag-bearer and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka to deputise him in the August polls.
Addressing the press in Nairobi, ANC secretary general Godfrey Ososti noted that the coalition has not yet reached a final decision to settle on the candidate who will be Nasa’s front-runner.
"Reports that Nasa has reached a decision on the position of flag bearer are erroneous. We are however aware of many working documents and proposals under discussion in the two committees," said Osotsi.
He added that any of the four members of the coalition stands a chance to fly the coalition’s presidential ticket.
“Any of the four principals has an equal chance of being chosen as the flag-bearer and hence respective parties must prepare their candidates,” he noted.
The secretary general asked ANC supporters to ignore any reports that may lead to the coalition splitting terming them as propaganda.
“We urge ANC supporters to be on the lookout and totally reject opportunistic propaganda and mischievous lies thrown around through mainstream media, social media and other means of communication to disorganise us,” he added.
"We did not unite to pick a presidential candidate, but to wrestle Jubilee out of power and rescue Kenya from suffering and Jubilee’s toxic misrule," he said.
Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi are all eyeing Nasa’s presidential ticket.
