Kakamega ANC officials and aspirants are blaming to the disharmony disharmony between their party's secretariat and National Elections Board and saying it will affect credibility of the party's upcoming primaries.
In a meeting at ANC Kakamega offices on Thursday, aspirants raised concerns on ANC's preparedness to conduct free, fair and credible nominations.
This comes after the nominations were rescheduled from this week to Thursday next week without giving reasons.
Kakamega county's ANC chairman Julius Arunga observed that the secretariat was micromanaging the NEB and so tampering with their autonomy.
“There are fundamental changes that have been made without the knowledge of the board and it is supposed to implement them,” he said.
“We want those interfering with the NEB to give it a chance to execute its mandate freely to avoid shambolic nominations,” he added.
The aspirants have given the ANC Kakamega county official until next week Monday to assure them of their preparedness to conduct the primaries so that any other delays are averted.
