In a tweet on Tuesday, moments after the much anticipated replacement, Osotsi also saluted  Kakamega, Senator Cleopa Malala, for succeeding Orengo as the Deputy Leader of Minority in the house.

''Congratulations to Senator Orengo and Senator Malala on your election as Senate Minority Leader and Senate Deputy Minority leader respectively,'' said Osotsi.

The replacement was engineered by Orange Democratic Party (ODM) senators who dominate the house' opposition wing.

Osotsi, Malala and Vihiga Senator George Khaniri have lately been at loggerheads with the ANC party leadership over allegations of leaning towards the opposition supremo Raila Odinga's side.

The three attended Odinga's mock presidential inauguration at Uhuru Park on January 30, an event that was skipped by the party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

They have since condemned Mudavadi and his opposition co-leaders Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka for their absence, terming the move as cowardly.

The party recently announced plans to punish the leaders for attending the event, saying that they contravened the party law, as their attendance was not approved.
