Leader Musalia Mudavadi has said the two bodies will work to ensuring that the party conducts free and fair primaries.

“I want to assure all ANC members that with these bodies, we’re now ready to conduct the nominations and it is only after the nomination exercise that a person can get a nomination certificate,” Mudavadi said.

“Normally when we get closer to the election, an election fever grips everybody and you start hearing people saying that a nomination certificate has already been given to Mr X or to Madam X when that has not happened,” he said.

He also said the NEB will work closely with political parties allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) should coalition partners opt to go the joint nominations way.

“This team that has been appointed by the ANC will also liaise with other political parties in NASA so that in the event that there’s any need for a joint nomination somewhere then the team will be involved to ensure fairness and broad participation by all parties.”
