[Photo/buzzkenya.com]The Anglican Church of Kenya has supported a move by the National Super Alliance (Nasa) to have IEBC officials who bungled the August 8 polls, removed from office. Led by Archbishop Daniel ole Sapit, thirty-five ACK bishops called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to cleanse itself ahead of the October 17 repeat presidential poll.“In order to avoid the possibility of another bungled election, IEBC must do everything within its power to cleanse itself and take corrective action, including exclusion of those who failed in their duties during the last elections,” said ole Sapit as quoted by Standard.The religious leaders however expressed concern following opposition threats of boycotting election. They cautioned the move.The bishops further opposed a move by President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee party to change the electoral laws following nullification of the presidential poll. They noted that this would lead to unacceptable mutilation of the Constitution.The clerics did also ask the electoral body to conduct the upcoming election in s free, fair and credible manner.“IEBC has to work to regain public confidence by being transparent,” the cleric said.
