There was drama at Lake Victoria, Kisumu, after an angry residents pounced on an environmental activist, beating him 'black and blue'.  

Bernard Odinga, is said to have duped at least 560 workers Sh500 in 2013, by asking them to manually remove water hyacinth from the lake. 

They had agreed that they would get paid Sh600, each, daily, for three month, only for him to disappear. 

according to one of the complainant, they were paying Sh500 to Odinga's Agulu Environment Network, as registration fee, before starting the job. 

"Sh500 from each of us; that's a lot of money. This man here must give our money back. He disappeared thinking we won't get him?'' said one of the complainants. 

They said the accused was caught, Monday, when he went to launch the project at the beach with a different group, before being spotted. 

Odinga was severally immersed in the lake, before the police came to his rescue. 

He was further taken to Kisumu Central police station for interrogation.
