A suspected shop burglar was lynched by an angry mob at Sakutiek along the Naivasha-Narok border after allegedly stealing from a local shop.

Maenga ole Parisioi, a resident, said two thugs raided one of the shops in the area and stole goods of unknown value.

“One of the thugs escaped as residents beat up the other to death and set ablaze the motorcycle they were using,” said Parisioi. 

A senior police officer who requested anonymity confirmed the incident.

"Police have launched a search for the suspect who escaped. Residents should not take the law into their hands, any suspect should be handed to police,"said the officer.

The deceased's body was taken to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.
