Angry residents of Kangundo sub-county in Machakos County on Sunday evening lynched a murder suspect before setting him on fire.

The angry residents had held demonstrations earlier a week before accusing police of laxity and increased insecurity.

This is after five watchmen were brutally murdered the same week while four were critically injured.

The suspect was lynched at Katanga market, just a day after another suspect alleged to be his accomplice was lynched at Kithyumuoni market, the same sub-county.

The area has in the recent past faced a series of brutal murders and robberies.
