Grief and drama were witnessed at Molo sub-county hospital after hundreds of mourners thronged the facility while carrying a coffin bearing the body of a child.
According to the emotional mourners, the body was taken to the facility in protest of 'negligence and ignorance' from a section of the stuff.
The staff was accused of ignoring the child 12 hours after being booked for treatment.
Peter Karanja and Agnes Karanja, parents to the deceased, narrated how they were dismissed by two nurses on duty on the material day.
They said their 8-month-old daughter had signs of high fever before taking her to the hospital at around 9 pm. She was ignored at the facility after being booked and died the following day at 8:20 am.
Patients said staff on night duty usually dismiss those sick.
Area residents led by former civic leader Njenga Matendo said cases of rudeness, arrogance and ignorance are common at the sub-county hospital.
Molo MCA Karanja Sonis called for immediate reshuffle of the hospital medical staff owning to increased complaints from residents.
He promised to independently investigate the matter and consult with the ministry on the course of action to be taken on those who were on duty when the child was left to die.
