The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati’s neigbour is counting losses.
This is after angry supporters burnt his property worth millions in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia county, moments after Chebukati had declared Uhuru Kenyatta as the president elect in the just concluded general election.
According to Nairobi News, among the assets destroyed were five lorries, a saloon car, a tractor and maize store.
The irate supporters said to be allied to the opposition took to the streets, Friday night to protest Uhuru’s victory before committing the arson.
Earlier information on social media had indicated that the IEBC’s boss home was set ablaze moments after he announced Uhuru as the winner of the presidency race. The information was later said to be false.
Reports however indicate the supporters were targeting Chebukati’s home.
