Opposition Chief Raila Odinga has faulted the move by Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to advocate for Luhya unity, insisting that such tribal grouping are outdated.

Days after signing MoU with President Uhuru Kenyatta, the two leaders have been traversing the Western region in what is viewed as anti-Raila crusade.

At Busia on Sunday, Raila warned that the proposed merger between ANC and Ford Kenya could further derail unity in the country.

“Tribal groupings have derailed development in the country and even sparked animosity among communities. Those advocating for such moves as stupid.

“We cannot continue doing things the same way and this is the time we have a broader view on what we want. Merging tribal parties just for power cannot end our problems,” he said.

The process to amalgamate the two parties is at infantry stages and was orchestrated when its leadership differed with Raila’s decision to mend fences with Uhuru.

While Mudavadi has shared platform with Raila in a number of occasions, Wetangula has however avoided him lately.
