Miwani, Canaan, Katelembu and Kenya Israel residents have expressed their insecurity bitterness through blocking Machakos -Nairobi road.

This happened on February 25, 2016 where they said they are tired with Machakos police as they have been sleeping on their job as residents lose their lives.

They claimed that for the last one month they have been crying out to Machakos county police commander Gedion Onyango to ensure that police officers do their work perfectly.

On February 24, 2016 one person was shot dead leaving several injured after unknown people stormed into their house.

Since the beginning of 2016, nine people have lost their lives in that area, including Kathekakai which does not have an Administration Police post.

Speaking to some of them during  the demonstrations, they said they want new police officers to be deployed in Machakos.

"We are leaving in fear. According to me police officers in Machakos are not doing their work and therefore we need other officers who can change the situation in these areas," said Wambua Mutuku.

Another resident whose brother was killed last month in cold blood suggested that police officers be dispatched to patrol all those areas especially at night for the sake of their lives.

"If police officers are dispatched to patrol overnights in all these area am sure cases of theft and death will decrease," said Joan Kavuli.

On the other hand, Machakos county police commander Gedion Onyango urged them to keep their cool as they are working through all means to ensure that security is improved.

He promised to take care of the situation within the shortest time possible adding that they have arrested a few suspects in the last one month.
