Deputy President William Ruto was on Thursday put to task by angry Kipsigis community members to explain why Jubilee had not fulfilled the promises it made four years ago.

Ruto had toured Narok South accompanied by Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter.

The residents said the Jubilee government pledged to tarmac Ololung’a-Sogoo and Mulot Olenguruone road, but the roads were still in pathetic condition.

“When you came here last time, you promised to tarmac these roads within 100 days but nothing has happened. They are in deplorable condition. If only you and the governor (Isaac Ruto) could leave your choppers and drive through these roads to understand what it feels like,” said one Kiplele, as quoted by the Standard.

Ruto was forced to rise from his car seat to address the locals from the sunroof of his car.

It took the intervention of CS Keter to calm down the enraged residents, who had threatened to disrupt the DP’s meeting.

“The road issue has been tendered and works will start by April. We are in government and by the end of this year, you shall see what we have done,” Ruto told the residents.
