Shock overwhelmed Lumbwa market few kilometres from Kathiani town after angry mob lynched a suspected thief.
The man had attempted to rob mpesa shop in the morning of July 4.
According to the shop attendant who had just opened her business, the suspect made a wrong regulation before he entered the shop.
She said that the man was armed with a dagger which he threatened to use to kill her if she shouted but unlucky to him a passersby noticed something was wrong and shouted for help.
"I was helped by passersby as I was shocked not knowing what to do.The man tried to escape but he was caught up by residents," said Mirriam Muli.
"The suspect was beaten to death before he was set ablaze," said one of the residents.
Police officers from Kathiani police station arrived later after which they took the remains of the suspect to Kathiani level four hospital mortuary.
They were accompanied by Kathiani central chief Munyao Muli who urged residents to desist from taking law into their hands.
