Angry supporters of Meru senator Kiraitu Murungu on Friday burned copies of Daily Nation's Thursday edition.
According to the irate supporters, the newspaper had published a biased story.
They were protesting a story about a survey by story Infotrak survey indicating that 41.1 per cent of residents interviewed supported Governor Peter Munya.
Murungu who is eyeing the gubernatorial seat was behind Munya with 29 per cent.
They rubbished the polls stating that they were not interviewed.
"We know Infortrak does its work to the highest bidder. So, if Munya gave kickbacks, he is cheating Himself," Willy Waweru.
"We all know that Munya is going home. We will punish him at the ballot for the plan to chase boda boda riders out of the town saying they were dirty."
"We want to ask the governor to show us who is dirty so that he can maybe come and wash us," Erick Murithi, one of the protesters is quoted by the Star.
"We know Munya might have manipulated the company that released the polls but he should be briefed that we are not voting for him."The protesters also warned Munya, 48, to stop referring to Kiraitu 65, as 'old man'.
"Munya is the one who is old as he has not initiated sufficient developmental projects," Murithi added.
