A section of teachers drawn from various schools in Gusii have challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i over what they term as 'misconduct'.

Matiang'i, who also doubles as acting Interior Cabinet Secretary, has received criticism and praise in equal measure over his management.

Led by Agasa Angwenyi, the teachers also challenged KNUT to come to their rescue over the ongoing transfer of teachers.

"We are sure many teachers are of the opinion that he is sacked. He is bullying teachers without giving tangible reasons," he said.

Identifying themselves as Independent Teachers team, he further said: "He is transferring people carelessly without concrete reasons and time has come for him to resign."

Kenyan National Union of Teachers Kisii branch was due to give a statement on Monday over mass transfer of teachers from Gusii region, apparently, Matiang'i's backyard.

At least fifteen principals have been transferred from various schools in Gusii since the official release of KCSE.
