A group of angry women Wednesday morning stormed an illicit brew den in Kayole estate in Naivasha protesting the brewing of illicit liquor.
Armed with machetes, the women complained that illicit liquor had made their husband to forget their roles as fathers and leave all the responsibilities to them.
The angry women were successful in gaining access into the den, pouring about 20 litres illicit brew. They accused police officers and local provincial administration for sleeping on their job as the number of dens keep increasing stating that people have no regard for the law and have resorted to taking chang'aa 24-hours a day.
They vowed to shut down all the dens in the area if the local administration and other stakeholders do not intervene to address the issue.
Jacinta Nduta, who led the group, said her husband can spend a week out without stepping in the house every time he is paid his salary and only comes back home when he is broke.
"My husband spends all of his salary on alcohol and only comes home when he is broke," she said
Kayole chief Mr Martin Maina cautioned the women against taking the law into there hands and promised to address their grievances and do everything possible to see that all illicit brewers are arrested and taken to court.
I want to warn you against taking the law into your hands. I will do everything possible to arrest illicit brewers in this area," he said.
