Angry youths mobbed motorists along the Nakuru-Naivasha highway and deflated vehicles Monday morning.
The youths were reportedly protesting the burning of charcoal trucks at Kitui after alleged utterances made by Governor Charity Ngilu.
The trucks are said to belong to business people at Rironi and Mai Mahiu hence the demos.
Protestors demanded Kitui county government compensates those affected.
"The have blocked the road and deflated our vehicles. We are wondering why we should be the ones to suffer yet the incident took place in Kitui," a driver who was headed to Nairobi said.
The most affected areas were Rironi and the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road.
The protest led to massive traffic jam along the highway.
Police were however called and forced to disperse the protestors.
