The arrest of a prominent preacher Sheikh Guyo Gosa by the police yesterday touched off angry protests in Marsabit by youths who demanded his immediate release.Sheikh Guyo was arrested as he delivered an early morning sermon Saturday.Angered by the arrest, the youths who are suspected to be his ardent followers went on the rampage, destroying property owned by KCB Bank before forcing their way into a nearby Catholic Church in the vicinity. A guard manning the gate of the church was given a beating that left him badly injured.One protester was arrested by the police in the chaos according to Marsabit OCS Charles Mwangi.The youths vowed to continue with the protests until the preacher is released.
