Politicians from Nyamira County on Wednesday thronged in Narok County Hospital to join families who had reportedly lost their loved ones in the Narok accident.
The South Nyanzan county lost 8 people with another 14 reportedly undergoing medication after narrowly surviving death.
Earlier, Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama had dispatched a disaster management team which collected the bodies of the victims to Bwomboga Nursing Home.
But at the scene, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi and his North Mugirango counterpart Joash Nyamoko joined bereaved families and even had a walk to the scene of the accident.
"It is a sad moment for our county and the country at large. Losing eight is painful. I stand with the families at this defining moment," said Nyamoko.
And on his part, Momanyi challenged Highway Roads Authority to take action against teh SGR contractors, who have been blamed for the accident.
"The activities at the SGR site should be halted as we seek a solution. We can't allow them to employ rogue drivers," he said.
The county government of Nyamira would pay hospital bills for those affected besides helping clear mortuary bills.
