Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has gone to court to challenge the recent National Assembly's Public Accounts Committee recommendations that she be held responsible for the theft of over Sh 719million while at the National Youth Service.
The Jubilee Kirinyaga gubernatorial candidate has sued the National Assembly, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Director of Criminal Investigations and the Attorney General.
Waiguru wants the High Court to issue orders that will bar the EACC from conducting a thorough lifestyle audit on her and fresh investigations as well as a probable prosecution.
The former CS also wants the recommendations and findings which PAC made against her quashed.
PAC earlier made recommendations that were adopted by the National Assembly on May 24.
Among these recommendations, PAC said that Waiguru should be barred from holding any public office if a court finds her found guilty of stealing Sh 791, 385,000 at NYS.
It recommended that the DCI starts a fresh probe over abuse of office.
The committee also recommended that a lifestyle audit be conducted on the top officials who were serving at the devolution ministry for the last five years, including Waiguru, and the outcome be announced to the public by December 31.
