Just a week after four people lost their lives in Mikuyuni area, Masii, Mwala sub-county along Machakos-Kitui road, another person died on the spot on Saturday night after losing control of his vehicle and rolling severally.

According to Mwala OCPD Henry Kimathi, the man who was driving a personal car Pajero make was drunk and drove at a high speed. 

Rukaria noted that due to the over speeding the man was thrown out of the vehicle losing his life instantly. The officer warned drivers to drive carefully and be extra vigilant while approaching Kithayani area since roadworks are in progress. 

"The accident happened at around 1:00am, the vehicle was heading to Kitui from Machakos where the driver was overspeeding, the vehicle rolled several times after he lost control of the vehicle," observed Rukaria. 

It's just a week ago where two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision in the same area causing death of four people and injuring several others. 

The leaders and residents from the area have been calling upon Kenya Highways authority to fast track the roadworks in a bid to avert more cases of road carnages.

The body of the man was taken to Machakos level five hospital mortuary as investigations by police commence.
