Speaking in Kaewa area where the bridge is situated, the area Chief Titus Vuva has asked the government to act fast and save the situation.

"The second bridge that has been used by all motorists going in and out of the Kathiani and Kangundo sub-counties has broken down," said Vuva.

According to the administrator, the cause of the collapse is heavy traffic after the main Thwake bridge collapsed late December 2015.

"The bridge might have also broken down due to heavy tractors ferrying sand from the sub-counties," he added.

Drivers and motorists using bridges in the areas have also been asked to be more careful while using the bridges.

Residents have therefore called upon the County government to intervene and reconstruct the two bridges so that transportation returns to normalcy.

The Thwake main bridge collapsed following the elnino rains but up-to-date no reconstructions have been done.
