Constitutional lawyer Yash Ghai has cautioned NASA leader Raila Odinga against his intended swearing in st president.
Ghai said doing so would dent Raila's chances of becoming the 'Father of the Nation'.
"Raila’s frustration is understandable. And yet I feel that he should abandon his determination to be anointed as President," Ghai said.
In an opinion piece he wrote with the Star, the lawyer said
Raila was presently losing the sympathy of supporters including those closest to him due to his insistence on being sworn in.
"But I have a positive reason for Raila’s abandoning the idea of presidency. It is to find a role outside the structures of the state, in order to reshape Kenya," he said.
"We should proclaim him as Baba wa Taifa (Father of the Nation), accepted even by those who are not his ardent supporters."
Ghai's advice comes days after Attorney General Githu Muigai warned Raila that he risked being hanged for treason in case he did not desist from the plans.
