Operations at the Eldoret National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) were on Thursday disrupted after a fire broke out at one of the driers.
According to NCPB North Rift manager Daniel Kodonyo, the fire might have been caused by excessive heat due to overwork.
Confirming the incident, Kodonyo, however, said there was no damage at the depot. He assured farmers that they are doing everything possible to see to it that normal operations resume.
"At 5 am there was a light fire in the upper chamber of one of our driers. We suspect it's as a result of excessive heating in the chamber," Kodonyo told the press.
"The fire was, however, put off and we are now inspecting all the chambers to ensure they are in good condition to avoid a similar incident even as we work on repairing the one damaged by the fire," he added.
The incident comes just a week after another fire incident at the facility which NCPB officials said was caused by a motor peeling off the drier and falling on electric wires.
