In a season of handshakes, Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr. William Kingi on Monday visited his Kisumu counterpart Dr. Mathews Owili and the two deliberated on areas of common interest.
In a post on his Facebook page, Dr. Kingi noted that both Kisumu and Mombasa have potential in blue economy and as such, they had met to explore areas where they can partner.
Dr. Kingi further noted that the fact that the two cities are served by direct flights is good in the promotion of tourism and trade.
According to the Mombasa Deputy Governor, their talks also touched on matters to do with devolution in its second face and the challenges facing the devolved units in service delivery.
He supported the call by the Council of Governors for the number of counties to be increased to improve service delivery to the citizens.
Dr. Kingi and Dr. Owili's meeting comes at a time when the fifth devolution conference is taking place in Kakamega County with various stakeholders set to deliberate on ways to strengthen the devolved system of governance.
