A patient accused of shooting and killing a doctor at Chiromo Lane Medical Centre on Wednesday has been arraigned in court.

During the Friday court session, Joseph Mungai Njoroge however failed to plead to the charge of murder.

This was after the prosecution informed the Deputy Registrar that police were still going on with investigations.

Mungai is accused of shooting and killing 43-year-old nurse Faustine Mwandliu after they had a short confrontation.

The Deputy Registrar directed that the suspect be treated at Industrial Area Prison health facility as it was said he is unwell.

Mungai has a mental condition and was admitted at the hospital while in possession of his mini-Ceska pistol that had eight rounds of ammunition.

He had earlier refused to surrender the pistol to the hospital’s security.

He will be back to court on Monday to answer to the indictment.
