Kenyan international Eric Johanna has become the latest local footballer to join the elite European football after he signed a two-year deal with Swedish division one debutant IF Brommapojkarna on Thursday.The 23-year-old former Mathare United midfielder was initially plying his trade with Swedish division two side Vasalund IF who were however relegated to the third tier at the end of the just concluded 2016/2017 season.He scored five goals for the team.IF Brommpojkarna was formed in 1942 and plays home matches in the 7000 capacity Grimsta IP Stadium.They were recently promoted to the top tier Allsvaksen league in the just concluded season after coming tops of the Superattan league for the fourth time.
Their first appearance in the Swedish top division came in 2006 although they were relegated a year after.
They earned an almost immediate come back a year later in 2008 before the relegation shocker fell on them again in 2010.
In 2012 Bromma as it is widely known again earned promotion back to Allsvasken but exited two years after in 2014.
The 2016 Kenya Premier League midfielder of the year becomes the second Kenyan to feature for a Swedish top side after Michale Olunga who enjoyed a one year stint with Djurgaardens IF.
