The National Olympic Committee of Kenya president Paul Tergat has managed to avert a crisis in the Kenyan camp for the Commonwealth Games after athletes complained of insufficient kits for the games.
Athletes who have camped at the Milele Hotel in South C say they have not received training and running gears and even shoes.
The same complaints were received from the boxing team that is camping in Nakuru.
The team, which comprises of 62 athletes say they have received part of the kits with some elements missing.
They have further complained of not receiving their allowances and threatened to down their tools if action was not taken.
However, a meeting with Tergat calmed them down, after he promised that all their issues will be handled within the shortest time possible.
“All the kits that we have received are what we have given out to the teams because we know that we want to facilitate them so that they train well for the games,” said Tergat.
He further asked for more time as they acclimatize to the office, which they took barely six months ago, with this being the first major tournament.
