A 52-year-old man accused of murdering his wife over a suspected love affair will know his fate next week when Nanyuki high court will make its ruling.
Nanyuki High Court judge Justice Mary Kasango set the ruling on Wednesday, February 7after the prosecution closed its case involving the alleged murder of one Sarafian Moile by her husband Pakisen Lengombiro Moile on April 19, 2016, at Kantana village Laikipia North.
According to Lamato Mumeita Morijoi, wife to Nkobonu Leitiko who is a brother in law of the accused, the two were having domestic differences caused by alleged infidelity which had caused them to separate.
Prior to the fateful day, the accused had on several occasions beaten the deceased alleging that a man was commonly seen at his home.
On the material day, a meeting to resolve the differences was held at the in-law’s home but the accused stormed out before the meeting ended saying he had paid dowry and could do anything he wanted to the deceased.
Later the same day at around 9:00 pm, the accused stormed the house of Morijoi where the deceased was hosted and shot her before escaping.
Five days later, the accused was arrested by members of the public at a nearby forest where he was hiding and directed them to where he had hidden the gun.
He was escorted to Doldol police station where he was charged with murder before being arraigned in court where he denied the allegations.
Justice Mary Kasango has allowed a request by Prosecuting Counsel Lukas Tanui that the riffle and spent cartilages collected at the scene of crime be under police custody.
