Another school in Nairobi is on the spot following rape claims at the institution.
The claims dogging Huruma Girls School in the city came three days after police confirmed that one girl was raped at Moi Girls High School in Nairobi.Parents to the Huruma Girls school rape victims on Tuesday recorded a statement at the Jogoo Police Station following claims by their daughter that she was raped at the institution. The girl alleged that when she went to the school's kitchen, the cook pushed his colleague out of the kitchen before sexually assaulting her."He came pushed us and closed the door and when we asked him he said that he wanted a girl. We told him to look for them outside," the girl narrated to Radio Jambo on Tuesday."The principal called us in the office and accused us of seducing the cook. We asked her to roll back the CCTV camera but she brushed it off," she added. The girl claimed that the cook only stopped after hearing noise from other students who were going to the kitchen. The school's principal, Margaret Owenje in a separate interview with KTN television said the cook switched off the lights after the students went to look for water in the kitchen. She denied the rape claims and accused the girls of seducing the cook. The headteacher noted that school rules do not allow students to go to the kitchen. The incident is said to have occurred on May 19 but only emerged after the Moi Girls School incident.
