Police in Nanyuki have arrested Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel over incitement.

According the Star, Lempurkel was arrested by Laikipia central DCIO and directly taken to the Naro Moru police station, Nyeri County, for questioning.

"I have been booked for incitement and they may transfer me to Nairobi later," he said as quoted by the Star.

This comes just a day after he denied reports that he incited the locals against whites in the area.

According to claims, the MP incited residents, telling them that all White people will be driven out of Kenya when NASA flag bearer Raila wins the general elections.

But Lempurkel says his remarks in vernacular were grossly mistranslated and quoted out of context.

In the said remarks which have been perceived as incitement, the MP allegedly said they will fight to ensure all foreigners leave and their land is seized back.

In a video circulating in the media, he allegedly threatens: "Some people called me and told me that if I lose this election, they will leave Laikipia. I told them not to worry. I also told them if we win this election we will take this land."
