Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua’s party- Maendeleo Chap Chap- will today (Saturday) endorse President Uhuru Kenyatta to contest for the nation’s top seat in the forthcoming general polls. 

The other parties that will be endorsing the head of state are Kanu, Kenya Patriotic Party and Economic Freedom Party as the race to State takes shape after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) officially endorsed its boss Raila Amolo Odinga also former prime minister to contest against Jubilee duo when that time comes.

JP secretary general Raphael Tuju has confirmed that the leaders of the four parties are expected to host National Delegates Conferences at separate venues in Nairobi where they will declare their support for President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto as he seeks to retain power after August 8 “It will be a moment to come together after the tough nomination process,” Tuju said, as quoted by Star.

It is also confirmed that Mutua party will host an event at its headquarters in Lavington while Kanu leaders will meet at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.

Kanu secretary general Nick Salat said that they have not entered an agreement with Jubilee but the National Delegates conference will decide over the matter since they have the mandate to do so.

“We have not signed an MoU with Jubilee Party but the NDC will decide for the party since the constitution gives them all the powers,” he said.
