Just hours after losing Nakuru RFC's Mike Okombe, the Kenya rugby fraternity has received another blow in the demise of former Homeboyz captain Peter Wekesa.
Wekesa died in a road accident in Mombasa Sunday morning.
Both Peter and his twin brother John Wekesa were pronounced dead at Mariakani Hospital where they were rushed after the accident.
The two were elder brothers to the late Andrew Wekesa, a former Homeboyz player, who was January this year stabbed to death in Kitengela.
Peter captained Homeboyz to win the Eric Shirley Shield back in 2011.
This saw the Deejays promoted to Kenya Cup.
“We express our deep and heartfelt condolences as we join in praying for the Wekesa family who have lost three young men in less than a year,” said the statement.
“Let our Almighty God give the family strength to bear this heartbreaking loss,” said a statement from Homeboyz.
Another player, Kenya Commercial Bank's James Kilonzo was in July this year shot dead by thugs.
