Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has been closed indefinitely.
The university closed its doors on Wednesday after the management learnt of and impending students strike.
Students in the halls of residence were given up to 2.30pm to have vacated the institution.
“Students residing in the university are advised to vacate the university premises by 2.30p.m at the very latest. Further communication will be made as need be,” read in part the internal memo by the university’s registrar of academic affairs E.T Muoria.
According to Citizen Digital, the students were planning to go on strike over what students termed as poor services at the institution.
“We were to strike over negligence of student infrastructure such as poor sanitation, poor Wi-Fi connectivity in school,” said a student as quoted by Citizen.
"We were issued a notice with less than ten minutes to vacate the hostels,” he added.
