At least thirty people in Legenet village, Rongai sub-county in Nakuru are reported to have contracted anthrax and are being treated at Lengenet health centre.
The county veterinary officer Martin Karate has confirmed cautioning the residents from eating meat that is not inspected saying they had confirmed about 10 cattle's from the area which have died from the disease.
He asked the farmers from the region to practice quarantine to reduce the spread of the disease to other places.
''Those affected contracted the disease through contact with carcasses," Karate said.
He urged public health officers to conduct inspection to help cope up with the crisis.
He added that vaccination of animals was going to begin soon in the area to prevent spread of the deadly disease to livestock as well as human.
