Business in Kibera slums is at a standstill following the anti- Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) protests.

According to some of the business owners in the area they had closed their businesses for fear of their stalls being looted and vandalised by rogue anti-IEBC demonstrators.

“All we want is a peaceful environment so that we can carry out business and we expect the demonstrations to be peaceful,” said Jack Ouma one of the businesmen.

Kamkunji chairman, Justus Ochieng on his part urged the officials to cease the fighting by saying that their protest would be peaceful. He warned officials against inciting followers to spark a brawl.

“We have come today to protest peacefully but please not deceive our young leaders to make a mess and cause violence. Be careful and carry out demonstrations for justice,’’ said Ochieng.
