Kisii teachers have called for an end of the anti-IEBC demonstrations citing that they negatively affect the children.
They were speaking yesterday saying some of the children have been traumatised following the chaos which involves throwing of teargas canisters by the police.
“Some of the pupils that were caught unaware are traumatized about the event. This is not good for the growth of our children,” said Augustus Munene.
They say engaging in demonstrations and running battles with the police portrays a bad image which most children will ultimately copy.
“Children look up to the elderly and imitate their behaviors. We serve as their role models," added Munene.
"What will they learn from demonstrating on the streets and engaging in running battles with the police? This is a very bad picture that we are portraying," he said.
They added that the children who are innocent watch these chaotic events which in turn they copy.
“When the children see iconic figures such as Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka among others engaging in battles with the police," said Anne Otieno.
"It sets a very bad picture. What will become of a child who these leaders are their role models,” she added.
