While dismissing DP William Ruto who had asked the Opposition to stop the demos following a court order barring them from holding the demos, Wetangula instead claimed there’s no such order.

Speaking at Uhuru Park on Tuesday, the Bungoma Senator said if the dialogue process fails, then they will have no option other than going back to the streets to push for electoral reforms.

DP Ruto during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Nakuru had asked the Opposition to stop the demos saying the government had complied with a court ruling okaying their Uhuru Park rally and so Cord leaders should reciprocate.

Last month, several Jubilee MPs moved to court seeking orders to bar Cord from holding their weekly protests.

Three people died on May 23 during Cord’s anti-IEBC demos in Kisumu and Siaya counties, drawing condemnation both locally and internationally.

Cord held its rally after the Afraha celebrations in a deal that was struck at State House Nairobi where President Uhuru held talks with Wetangula and Raila Odinga to chart the way forward to resolving the IEBC impasse.
