Speaking on Thursday, the business people urged the opposition leaders to stop calling for the protests.

“We are afraid that the protests by opposition leaders could escalate to other areas and disturb business,” said Boniface Kinyanjui, a trader at Ruaka town.

The trader further warned that the protests by cord will paint the country negatively and scare away tourists.

“The opposition leaders should use other mechanisms to petition for removal of IEBC instead of protests,” said Philomena Mburu, a mitumba trader at Ruaka.

Mburu said that instability in Nairobi as a result of the protests will affect business in neighboring towns.

A section of business people in Nairobi complained that their property was looted and destroyed by protesters during  the chaotic anti-IEBC  Monday protests by opposition leaders.

On Tuesday businessmen whose property was looted recorded statements with the police after a section of Jubilee MPs asked them to do so.

The MPs said that Cord should be made to compensate for the property looted and destroyed during the protests.
