President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Kisii tour was handed an ugly show by local youths after his Gusii Stadium address.
A local daily reveals that the youths staged “dramatic streets protests” chanting pro-NASA slogans as Mr Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto charged on their Gusii land tour.
They chanted: “Uhuru must go! Uhuru must go!” and even went to an extent of lighting street fires.
Led by Samuel Omwando, a parliamentary aspirant for Kitutu Chache South on Odinga’s ODM, the residents said the county was an ODM zone.
The news site states that the youths, some of whom rode motorcycles, carried oranges, waved pictures of Raila, blew whistles, clapped and turned their shouting into song.
They hailed ODM’s leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as a great leader for this country. They credited him for the democracy Kenya enjoys.
President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto on Tuesday kicked off a two-day tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties to hunt for votes.
During one of their Wednesday speeches, Mr Kenyatta blamed opposition leader Raila Odinga for the 2007/08 post-election violence.
