Supporters of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's cousin Said Abdallah have taken to the streets to protest over what they termed as injustice by the ODM Dispute Tribunal.
This comes after the Tribunal ordered a repeat of the party's nominations in Nyali constituency following an appeal by Former KTN journalist Mohamed Ali.
Abdallah, alias Saedo, was declared the winner, results that were dismissed by his rival Moha.
According to the Willis Otieno-chaired tribunal, the primaries did not meet the threshold of free, fair and credible polls as it was marred with massive irregularities that worked against some of the aspirants.
However, the decision irked Saedo's supporters who took to the streets to protest against the tribunal's ruling.
The angry residents termed the decision as a ploy by the Orange party to deny Saedo the certificate, something they said is an injustice, arguing that he was the rightful winner.
Led by Mkomani MCA Kizito Opeya, the protesters who converged at the Treasury Square on Wednesday declared that they will not allow a repeat of the nominations.
"The election was free and fair. Ali should concede defeat and look for another party or go as an independent candidate,” Opeya said, as quoted by The Star.
While accusing Ali of being a "spoiler", the protesters said that they will not accept anything short of a nomination certificate for their preferred candidate, Saedo.
"He is just a spoiler in ODM. Abdhallah has been campaigning for the past two years, whereas Ali came in just the other day and expects to win. Residents have spoken," said Frere Town Ward MCA aspirant Charles Kitula.
The celebrated journalist declared that he will be on the ballot with or without ODM come August.
