Senate speaker Kenneth Lusaka is appealing to security organs in Bungoma to arrest the persons behind leaflets warning against voting on Thursday.

The former Bungoma governor reached out to the county commissioner to ensure that all those behind the circulation are dealt with accordingly.

He said the county does not belong to anyone "who wakes up and gives orders the way he wants".

Lusaka argued that every Kenyan is free to participate in the fresh presidential election and cautioned those threatening voters that the law will not spare them.

"We are warning those planning to disrupt the election that they will be dealt with. Let them remain at home if they don't want to participate," he said.

The speaker asked Bungoma residents to come out in large numbers and vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta, noting that there will be enough security.

Area police commander Charles Munyoli has confirmed that leaflets were in circulation threatening those who wanted to go out and vote.

''We received information yesterday (Monday) night that some leaflets were being circulated, warning people against voting. We are closely monitoring the matter and will soon net the culprits," he said.
