Anti riot police have been withdrawn from Uhuru Park.
The armed officers had been spotted in and near Uhuru Park on Tuesday morning following a warning by Nairobi police commandant Japheth Koome, that nobody would be allowed to access the venue.
As early as 6 am, supporters of the NASA coalition had started streaming in, ready for the controversial swearing-in of opposition leader Raila Odinga and his Deputy Kalonzo Musyoka as president and deputy president respectively.
They were allowed to the grounds despite the police warning.
By 8 am, uniformed anti-riot police had left the grounds, leaving just a few, some on horses.
It is however not clear if more of the plain clothes officers were around.Earlier, there was confusion at Uhuru Park after a beehive was found dumped behind the dais.
Supporters were shocked to find the beehive prompting them to swing into action and get rid of it.
