Transport was paralysed along Kisii-Sotik highway for the better part of Friday morning after a host of locals protested against Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

Sonko is embroiled in vicious war of words and court battles with Borabu MP Ben Momanyi over decision to order payment of Sh6.2 million to General Suppliers Limited against the wish of City Hall.

Also, the flamboyant county boss had moved to court to compel Momanyi, whose legal firm has been working with county government of Nairobi, to pay back Sh58 million, which was part of Sh60 million paid after winning a case.

"What we are seeing is pure malice from Sonko. He is targeting Momanyi unfairly and this is purely political," said James Ratemo, the organiser of the demos.

He added: "If at all he was genuine, he should respect someone's profession. He should understand how law firms work. Time for political witch hunt must end."

The MP is reportedly in US where he is attending a workshop organised by PSC but in the past he had denied the allegations.

In the latest duel, Sonko argues that Momanyi conspired with the contractor to have the money paid without the county's consent.
