Speaking on Thursday in Vyulya town, Mutundu condemned suicide acts stating their increase over small misunderstandings mainly in domestic settings.

"I urge the pastors, priests and Sheikhs to offer religious teachings and advice to our youth during services and religious meetings on how to deal with crisis as have witnessed many suicide acts increasing in our sub-county," said Mutundu.

The Vyulya administrator further condemned suicide stating it was unfortunate that the most affected are youths who are the face of development in the coming years.

"When we lose a young person in such a way it's very unfortunate as they are the energetic and potential workforce as well as current and future leaders expected to steer development in our area," he added.

It's been less than two weeks since a 18 year old boy committed suicide in Kathiani following all mistreatment by the mother.

The residents were also adviced to seek alternative ways of crisis management that do not cause more loss. Among the ways the chief suggested are nyumba Kumi initiative that ate aimed at ensuring peace and security at village and estates levels.

"Our Deputy County Commisioner Evans Matundura recently introduced a program including chiefs, assistant chiefs and elders to ensure peaceful conflict resolution in homes to avoid extreme measures like suicides," he added.
