Raila said the country is heading towards the wrong direction and it is the duty of Kenyans to liberate it.

He was speaking in Luanda, Vihiga County on Saturday after officiating at the launch of a football tournament steered by MP Christopher Omulele.

"There is scheduled to be a second phase of the Mass Voter Registration from January 16, 2017 to February 15, 2017," he said at the event.

"A period of 30 days that will determine the outcome of the 2017 General Elections. If you are fed up with the way things have been these past four years then it is your patriotic duty to ensure you have your ID ready to register to vote."

Raila said voters from opposition strongholds should turn out in large numbers during the registration exercise.

This, he said, is the surest way of sending Jubilee home in 2017.

"This is the only way you can reclaim your country from the depths Jubilee has sank it to."

Raila and other opposition leaders including Amani's Musalia Mudavadi, Kanu's Gideon Moi, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka and Chama Cha Mashinani's Isaac Ruto are crafting an opposition super alliance.

The alliance is expected to field a candidate who will take on President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 2017 polls.
