President Uhuru Kenyatta completed his State visit of Cuba, jetting back into the country on Monday morning.
The president was in the Caribbean country for three days and was accompanied by other leaders.
However, the notable individual is Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o.He is the only first ODM governor to attend an event with the Head of State outside the country.
The Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU) which was with President Uhuru in Cuba revealed that Nyong'o accompanied the president for the event, in the interest of fostering Health in Kenya.
Nyong'o attended because he is a member of the health committee in the council of governors, which is chaired by Marsabit County counterpart Mr Mohamud, who was part of the entourage.
“The President’s delegation includes Marsabit Governor Mohamud Mohamed and Kisumu Peter Anyang Nyong’o. Health being a devolved function, governors are a key factor in the delivery of the President's health agenda,” PSCU said in a statement.
Other officials who were with Kenyatta included;
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Cabinet Secretary Amb Monica Juma, Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Achesa Mohamed and Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Rashid Amani.Cuba is known to have one of the best health systems in the world, and the partnership between the two countries is set to greatly help Kenya.
