Theophilus Mutua, and two other administration officers, were presented with letters of interdiction over failure to offer security to the said container.

Confirming the incident on Tuesday, Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki said that they had taken the necessary action against the officers.

“There was no security at the container bearing exams, so we had to take action. The investigations are currently on going,” said Achoki.

The police commander is accused of failing to assign his junior officers the task of manning a container which contained Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination papers.

This comes after Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) boss George Magoha made a surprise visit at the DC’s office on November 2, only to realise that the container had been left unmanned.

“He has already received a letter and what is required from him is to write another letter in his defense. From there, he will receive a response from the headquarters,” said a senior officer who sought anonymity, as quoted by Baraka FM.

The identities of the other two officers are yet to be disclosed.
