An administration police in Njunu, Kiambu County has gone into hiding after he was caught red handed stealing 300 water pipes belonging to Njunu community water project.
The said officer, identified only as Biwott, has allegedly been stealing from members of the public and only last week was he caught in a motorbike robbery which he admitted and compensated the owner.
Area residents led by Ndumberi Ward MCA Ngugi Wuiru are now up in arms demanding the immediate arrest of the officer saying that he has been stealing from the public for a long time with nothing being done about it.
“We are worried that Biwott and his friend last week admitted to have stolen a motorbike. This officer is the one who has been stealing from us instead of protecting us,” said Ngugi.
“This officer stole our pipes and we have been able to recover them from where they had been hidden. We want to hear that this officer has been arrested and sent to prison,” said James Mwangi the chairman of Njunu water project.
The residents say that the officer and his gang have become a nuisance and they are stealing everything from them including chicken.
Area AP commandant, Gitahi Kanyeki, has announced that a manhunt for the officer has started and he will be taken to court as soon as he is apprehended.
